Over 120 young women between 18-25 years of age from across the country will gather this week at YWCA Canada’s Think Big! Lead Now! Young Women’s National Leadership Summit in Muskoka, Ontario.

Taking place from Thursday, March 9, to Sunday, March 12, this immersive leadership training summit will bring together young women from across Canada to network, meet inspiring leaders, participate in interactive skill-building workshops, and celebrate the contributions women have made in shaping Canada.

“We’re thrilled to bring together this incredible cohort of engaged young leaders. Coming from a range of different fields and studies, they are awake to the social and political problems that surround them and are eager for social change. They hail from across the country, from urban centers to the most remote Northern communities. We’re building leaders to move entire sectors forward, from nursing, to engineering, to politics,” says Ann Decter, Acting CEO of YWCA Canada.

The Young Women’s Leadership Summit is presented with the generous participation of Canadian Heritage. It has also been sponsored in part by RBC Wealth Management, The Home Depot,, Canadian North Airlines, and Blackwood Partners.

Speakers and workshop facilitators include:

  • Zoe Roy – Youth activist. Spoken word poet. Community leader. Educator. Winner of a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, YWCA Saskatoon’s 2013 Women of Distinction Award, and a 2016 Indspire Award, 27 year-old Zoey Roy has created a vibrant life of art and activism despite leaving home at 13 and being incarcerated before the age of 14. Connecting to her community, volunteering, and gaining deeper knowledge of her Métis, Cree, and Dene roots were her first steps to her new life as a catalyst for social change.
  • Stephanie Harvey - A five-time world champion in competitive Counter-Strike, and longtime female pro-gaming icon, Stephanie Harvey currently plays professionally for the all-female team CLG Red. She also worked as a game designer for Ubisoft Montreal, having notably been part of development for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Far Cry Primal. Her 16 years in esports as a player and 7 years in the industry as a developer awarded her a Forbes 30 under 30 title in 2014 and one of the BBC 100 women of 2016. Beyond that, she's a partner on Twitch.TV, the biggest live streaming gaming platform, and broadcasts gameplay daily.
