Dollars & Sense

Empowering Through Financial Literacy

About the Project

Dollars & Sense Project is a collaborative initiative led by YWCA Canada in partnership with five regional YWCAs across the country. This project aims to enhance financial literacy for low-income women and gender-diverse individuals, those leaving violent situations, racialized communities, and newcomers.

By weaving financial literacy and empowerment activities into multiple existing programs, we aim to address the unique needs of participants and uplift them economically. This project is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about fostering a sense of financial confidence and resilience within our community.

5 YWCAs are offering this program in their communities:

YWCAs are supporting community members by:

  • Facilitating Financial literacy workshops and training sessions
  • Offering Counselling, referrals and other supports
  • Hosting Free and Accessible Tax-Filing Clinics to ensure that women and gender-diverse individuals in our community can navigate the tax system with ease, maximizing their returns.
  • Offering training sessions on impactful financial literacy programs.

Dollars & Sense is a two-year project funded in part by the Government of Canada.
