Congratulations to our National Director of Public Policy and Strategic Communications, Anjum Sultana!
She was recently named a Global Woman of Distinction by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, representing North America and Europe. She will be honoured before the 64th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York on March 8th, International Women’s Day.
“In 2020 as we commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, Beijing +25, we have decided to honor five women, one from each region: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America Caribbean, North America/Europe and Middle East/North Africa.
Anjum Sultana is the National Director of Public Policy & Strategic Communications at YWCA Canada, the nation’s oldest gender equality organization. Anjum is the Founder of Millennial Womxn in Policy, a grassroots organization with over 2500 members, focused on the advancement of women and gender diverse people in public policy. Anjum represented Canada at the 2019 Youth G7 Summit in France through Young Diplomats of Canada. Anjum serves as a board member for the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians, Toronto Environmental Alliance and Regent Park Community Health Centre. Given her expertise in civic engagement, health equity and public policy, Anjum serves as an advisor for several organizations and initiatives including as an Ally for the OCIC Youth Policy-Makers Hub. Anjum holds a Masters in Public Health from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.”
